Canyon's new Lux Trail 2027 aims to redefine downcountry with more travel, less weight, and a revised geometry. We take a first look at the top-spec CF 9 model to see if it delivers on its promises.
Canyon's new Lux Trail 2027 is here, and it's making some bold claims. The bike is designed to climb faster, descend with more confidence, and somehow weigh less than its predecessor. With 140mm front and 125mm rear travel, a completely revised geometry, and a host of refined details, Canyon is taking direct aim at the downcountry segment. We got our hands on the top-spec Lux Trail CF 9 to see if it lives up to the hype.
### The Downcountry Dilemma
Downcountry bikes are evolving faster than almost any other category. Today's riders want a bike that climbs with maximum efficiency and minimal effort, yet feels far more capable than a disguised XC bike when the trail turns technical. That's exactly the balance Canyon is trying to strike with the all-new Lux Trail. To achieve it, the Koblenz-based brand has given their lightweight trail bike more suspension travel, a significantly more descent-focused geometry, and a frame that's claimed to be 200 grams lighter than before. The goal? Combine the climbing efficiency and low weight of the previous Lux Trail with the confident descending performance of the Neuron CF.
### First Impressions and Key Specs

### The New Canyon Lux Trail 2027 in Detail
At the heart of the new Lux Trail is a completely redesigned carbon frame. Despite the increase in suspension travel—now 140mm at the front (up by 20mm) and 125mm at the rear (an increase of 11mm)—Canyon claims the frame weighs just 1,850 grams in size M, around 200 grams less than its predecessor. That's a significant achievement, and it retains its Category 3 certification for strength and durability.
Alongside the extra travel, Canyon has significantly updated the geometry with a much stronger focus on trail performance. The head angle is slacker, the reach is longer, and the seat angle is steeper, all aimed at keeping the front wheel planted on descents while maintaining an efficient climbing position. It's a classic downcountry recipe, but one that Canyon seems to have executed with care.
> "The new Lux Trail is proof that you can have your cake and eat it too—climb like an XC racer and descend like a trail bike, all while dropping weight."
We'll be putting the Lux Trail through its paces on our home trails to see if it truly delivers on its promises. Stay tuned for a full review.
