Canyon's New Lux Trail 2027: More Travel, Less Weight—But Is It Worth It?

Canyon's Lux Trail 2027 gets more travel, less weight, and a geometry tweak for downcountry dominance. We break down the specs and first impressions.

Canyon just dropped the Lux Trail 2027, and it's turning heads in the downcountry scene. With 140mm front and 125mm rear travel, a revised geometry, and a frame that's 200 grams lighter, this bike promises to climb like an XC rig and descend like a trail bike. We took a closer look to see if it delivers. ### The Downcountry Dilemma Downcountry bikes are having a moment. Riders want the efficiency of an XC bike with the capability of a trail bike. Canyon aims to strike that balance with the new Lux Trail. The previous version was already a solid climber, but the 2027 model adds more travel and a slacker geometry to boost confidence on descents. ### Frame and Weight: Lighter Yet Stronger At the heart of the Lux Trail is a completely redesigned carbon frame. Despite the extra travel, Canyon claims the frame weighs just 1,850 grams in size M—about 200 grams less than before. That's a significant achievement. The frame retains Category 3 certification, so it's built to handle rough trails. ### Geometry: Pointed Downhill Canyon slackened the head angle and lengthened the reach for stability at speed. The seat tube angle is steeper for efficient climbing. It's a modern trail bike geometry that should feel at home on technical descents. ### Specs and Pricing Our test bike, the LUX Trail CF 9, comes with a full carbon frame, 29" wheels, and a 13.0 kg weight in size L. The price is set at €5,999 (around $6,500). It's available in five sizes, XS to XL. ### Highs and Lows - **Highs:** Affordable entry price, lightweight frame, frame storage compartment, integrated tool. - **Lows:** No frame protection on the seatstay or main pivot. ### First Impressions We haven't thrown a leg over it yet, but the numbers look promising. The Lux Trail could be one of the lightest and most capable downcountry bikes on the market. Will it dethrone the competition? Only a full test will tell. Stay tuned for our ride review.
