Cypress Mountain's Legendary Bike Park Is Coming Back—Here's What Riders Need to Know

The resort, perched on Vancouver's North Shore, just dropped the news that riders will once again be able to hit lift-served trails starting in 2027. This isn't just any comeback—it's the return of the original bike park that helped put the North Shore on the global mountain biking map. The timing couldn't be better. In April, the mountain biking world learned that Red Bull Hardline—the notoriously brutal downhill race series—would be adding a North American stop at Cypress Mountain. With that event slated for 2026 and the bike park following a year later, Cypress is about to become a serious destination for gravity riders of every skill level. ### Built by the Best in the Business If you're going to build a new bike park from scratch, there's no better crew than Gravity Logic. The trail-building company was co-founded by Tom "Pro" Prochazka, who served as bike park manager at Whistler from 2001 to 2007. During his tenure, Pro and his team crafted some of the most iconic trails in the sport—and gave them their legendary names too. Gravity Logic has since grown into a global force, with projects spanning North America and beyond. Their portfolio includes some of the most respected bike parks on the continent. For Cypress, they're planning something special. "Cypress has great vertical, varied terrain, and a baked-in mountain bike culture and history that gives us a really strong starting point," Pro said. "We'll be working with the natural terrain as much as practical and will pay close attention to water management to build trails that are fun, progressive, and sustainable." ### What Riders Can Expect Cypress Mountain Resort sits about 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver and is the largest mountain resort near the city. The resort spans over 600 acres of terrain and features six chairlifts. For the bike park, two of those lifts—Eagle Express and Raven Ridge, both quad chairs—will be dedicated to hauling riders and their bikes up the mountain. The initial phase is slated to open in 2027, with additional trails rolling out in 2028 and 2029. Based on the preliminary map, riders can expect a solid mix of green, blue, and black trails right from the start. That means something for everyone, from first-timers to seasoned pros. Well, Cypress has a different take on that. They're quick to point out that they're the original, having first opened their bike park back in 2005. That original park ran for a few seasons before shutting down to prepare for the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Now, after receiving the green light from BC Parks under the resort's existing Controlled Recreation Area Master Plan, Cypress is ready to reclaim its legacy. "Welcoming the mountain bike community back to Cypress after more than 20 years will be a special moment for us," said Matt Davies, general manager of Cypress Mountain. "The redesigned Cypress Bike Park will offer terrain for every kind of rider—flowy, jump trails for those who love to build speed and catch air, technical lines for riders chasing a bigger challenge, and beginner-friendly runs for those just getting started." ### A Bright Future for the North Shore The North Shore has always been a hallowed ground for mountain biking, and this announcement solidifies its status as a premier destination. With both Grouse and Cypress now offering lift-served riding, plus the world-class trails that made the region famous, there's never been a better time to plan a trip. Gravity Logic, who also built Grouse Mountain's park, is set to begin work soon.
