Daysaver IncredibleX & Pump40HV: Lab Tested

Integrated bike storage is a top trend. We tested the Daysaver IncredibleX multitool and Incredible Pump40HV in the lab and on the trail, assessing real-world performance, strengths, and limitations.

Integrated bike storage is one of the biggest trends in cycling right now. With the IncredibleX multitool and Incredible Pump40HV, Daysaver gives you a way to keep essential tools hidden and out of sight. We tested this system in the lab and on the trail to see how it holds up. ### Daysaver IncredibleX & Incredible Pump40HV: Compact and Clever The Incredible Pump40HV weighs just 2.9 ounces and measures 4.9 inches long. It fits easily in a jersey pocket, frame bag, or the chest pocket of an EVOC Hydro Pro pack. Despite its small size, it delivers a 40 cc stroke volume. The optional hose is a standout feature: it screws onto the valve but releases cleanly when disconnected, so you don't accidentally pull out the valve core like with many screw-on pumps. The pump also doubles as a storage case for additional Daysaver tools. You can mount it to a bottle cage or tool mount using an optional bracket. But ergonomics could be better. The pump cap has a square edge that digs into your palm when inflating tires to higher pressures, especially on road bikes. It's uncomfortable and harder to use at those pressures. The removable hose prevents air loss during use. One of the tools from the Incredible range fits inside the HV40 pump. ### IncredibleX: L-Shaped Design for Better Access Let's be clear: the IncredibleX is being replaced by the Incredible8. They're nearly identical, except for the bits. The IncredibleX uses two-piece bits, while the Incredible8 uses one-piece versions. Two-piece bits will still be available separately for maximum flexibility. But most riders will care about the lower price: the Incredible8 costs $22 less than the previous model. When unfolded, the IncredibleX stands out from folding multitools with its L-shaped design. This layout improves access to bolts that traditional tools struggle to reach. Leverage is excellent, especially when loosening pedals with the 8 mm hex key. Bits and holders are easy to swap, even with gloves on. - Weighs 2 ounces - Measures 3.8 inches long - Fits inside handlebars or pump body The L-shaped design gives you excellent leverage and makes it easy to reach awkward bolts. Storage flexibility is the system's best quality. The tool mounts inside the handlebar with adjustable end plugs that expand mechanically, not just with friction. This makes removal cleaner than most. It also fits inside the pump body, and stays rattle-free in either setup. A OneUp steerer mount works well too. But there's a drawback: one of the bits broke during testing. The modular pin-and-magnet connection is sensitive to incorrect installation. Bits that aren't fully seated in the holder can fail under load. ### Conclusions About the Daysaver Multitool The IncredibleX and Incredible Pump40HV are a strong choice for riders who want clean, integrated storage. Modular compatibility, thorough spare parts support, and build quality that justifies the price are the main selling points. The L-shaped design gives you genuine access advantages that a straight tool can't match. The price is the honest obstacle. But if you're willing to pay, you get a system engineered with care and built for daily trail use. **Pros:** - Clean workmanship and premium materials - Versatile integration options: handlebars, pumps, and mounts - Excellent leverage for tough bolts **Cons:** - Bits can break if not fully seated - Pump cap is uncomfortable at high pressures - Price is high compared to alternatives
