DHaRCO Enduro Bib Shorts: Dual Protection Review

DHaRCO Enduro bib shorts combine a comfortable fit with an integrated RHEON back protector for trail safety. At $169.99, they offer great value for day rides but fall short for multi-day trips. Read our full review.

### The All-in-One Solution for Trail Protection Bib shorts or back protector? With the DHaRCO Enduro bib, you don’t have to choose. It combines both in one clever package. On the trail, this concept promises comfort and added safety. But does it deliver? Let’s find out. At $169.99 (converted from €159.99), the value is hard to beat. Comparable back protectors alone often cost that much. You get bib shorts with storage pockets, a seat pad, and integrated CE Level 1 back protection. DHaRCO also offers a version without the protector for $139.99, and the RHEON back protector separately for $64.99. There’s a women’s version too, but it lacks the fly opening found on the men’s model. The bibs are made from a nylon-elastane mesh fabric with a Coolmax performance seat pad. The RHEON back protector uses an impact-reactive polymer. It stays soft and flexible during normal riding but stiffens on impact. You can wash the shorts on a gentle cycle at 86°F, but remove the protector first and clean it by hand. ### Fit and Comfort on the Trail After finding a quiet spot to change, the DHaRCO Enduro bib shorts impress right away. The straps, length, and overall fit feel well balanced. On the bike, the pad sits exactly where it should. It stays comfortable even during long pedaling sessions. For MTB bib shorts worn under trousers, the seat pad is relatively thick. Your sit bones will appreciate that extra cushioning. The integrated RHEON back protector is the real highlight. It sits neatly against your back and is barely noticeable while riding. It’s one of the most unobtrusive back protectors we’ve tested. On the trail, it hardly gets in the way and combines protection with excellent comfort. The protector measures about 15.9 x 6.1 inches and weighs just 0.55 pounds. ![Visual representation of DHaRCO Enduro Bib Shorts](https://ppiumdjsoymgaodrkgga.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/etsygeeks-blog-images/domainblog-b2824296-022c-43cf-ab9f-813ff5039345-inline-1-1780588885907.webp) ### Storage: Plenty of Space, but Some Quirks The deep rear pockets keep your contents secure. But on our 6-foot-3-inch tester in size XL, they end exactly at waistband height. That means energy bars can slip under the waistband or get pinched. It gets annoying while pedaling. There’s no zippered pocket for small items like a house key, which is a shame. The side pockets seem practical with their cargo-bib design. But in everyday use under MTB trousers, they’re limited. With tighter-fitting trousers, you can’t access the thigh pockets without pulling your pants down or taking them off. Still, the bib offers more than enough storage space for gels and snacks. Our tester had another 75 miles to ride after refueling. ### The Biggest Drawback: Limited for Multi-Day Rides The main issue is the concept itself. For day rides, weekends, or short trips, the integrated solution works great. It adds protection without needing a separate vest. But on longer bike holidays, it only partially replaces a standalone back protector. You won’t want to wear the same bib for several days in a row. That’s a real limitation for bikepacking or multi-day adventures. ### Final Verdict The DHaRCO Enduro Bib Shorts offer a smart combination of comfort and protection. The RHEON back protector is barely noticeable on the trail. The storage is generous, though pocket placement could be better. If you mostly do day rides or weekend trips, this bib is a solid choice. For longer tours, you might still need a separate protector. Overall, it’s a well-designed product that delivers on its promise of dual protection.
