We tested the SERYT YOUTH Flow Knee Pads with a 10-year-old rider for three months. How did they handle comfort, ventilation, and Level 2 protection?
"Mum, that pinches!" If you've ever heard that from your kid halfway through a ride, you know the struggle. Protective gear has to fit just right. If it digs in or slips around, the day is ruined. And if it doesn't look cool? It'll sit in the closet forever.
So when the SERYT YOUTH Flow Knee Pads landed on our radar, we had to find out: can they win over young riders with comfort, ventilation, and Level 2 protection? We put them through a three-month test with a 10-year-old shredder named Tom. Here's what we found.
### The Basics: What You Get
Former downhill pro Carlo Gambirasio knows a thing or two about crashing. He brought his seamless technology to adult knee pads first, and now SERYT offers the same concept for kids. The idea is simple: no chafing, no fuss, just comfortable protection that doesn't break the bank.

### How Do They Fit?
From the moment you pull them on, the highly elastic fabric wraps seamlessly around the leg. It goes from the thigh down over the shin. The bold colors add a splash of fun, and kids love that. You do have to take shoes off to get them on, but once they're in place, they fit like a second skin. No pinching, no pressing, no chafing.
Without Velcro straps, there's nothing to scratch or get in the way. The downside? You need to get the size right the first time. There's no fine-tuning later. Luckily, SERYT provides a handy size chart. Once they're on, silicone grippers on the upper cuffs keep them in place. They didn't budge on steep climbs or rough trails.
### On the Trail: Comfort and Performance
Out on the trail, the low weight and barely-there feel really shine. The ventilated construction kept things airy even on hot summer days. Our tester actually forgot to take them off after a ride and kept wearing them while playing in the garden. That's the best proof of comfort you can get.
Another bonus: the durable fabric treatment prevented odors throughout the entire three-month test. Even after repeated hand washing, they stayed fresh. Our tip: just air them out. If they need a wash, hand wash at a maximum of 68°F (20°C).

### Protection Level: A Cut Above
The slip-on design isn't new, but SERYT stands out with Level 2 protection. That means they're certified for bike park use. Compare that to the IXS Carve EVO+ Kids, which only meet Level 1. During our test, the Level 2 impact pad shrugged off light to moderate crashes without issue.
We'd love to see SERYT expand the range with a model that offers additional shin protection. But for now, these knee pads are a solid choice for young riders who want comfort, style, and serious protection.
### The Verdict
If you're looking for kids' knee pads that fit well, breathe well, and protect well, the SERYT YOUTH Flow Knee Pads are worth a close look. Just make sure you measure carefully before ordering. Once they're on, your kid might not want to take them off.
